Shaped pouch

A shaped pouch (also known as a die-cut pouch or contour pouch) is a flexible packaging format that is cut into a non-rectangular, custom silhouette using a specialized die-cutting tool. Unlike standard square or rectangular bags, its outer perimeter is shaped to mimic the product inside, a brand logo, or an ergonomic grip.Essentially, it can be a Stand-Up Pouch, a 3-Side Seal, or even a Spout Pouch—but with a custom-molded exterior.

Why the “Shape” Matters

  1. Brand Identity: If a client sells honey, the pouch can be shaped like a honey pot or a bee. If they sell juice, it can look like an orange slice.

  2. Ergonomics & Utility: A pouch can be “waisted” (curved in the middle) to make it easier for a consumer to hold, or it can have a built-in handle die-cut directly into the film.

  3. Shelf “Pop”: In a sea of rectangular bags, a shaped pouch breaks the visual pattern, forcing the consumer’s eye to stop.
